Hoffpauir Inducted into Hall of Fame

Longtime Vidalia Viking baseball coach Johnny Lee Hoffpauir was inducted into the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame Friday night. The induction event was held at the River Oaks Event Center in Lafayette.

Hoffpauir coached the Vikings baseball team for 31 years, compiling a record of 579-230. His legendary run included a state championship in 1996 and state runner-up in 2002.

Hoffpauir was actually selected into the 2021 Hall of Fame class, but that class was inducted with the 2022 class because of Covid. There were several other coaches inducted Friday night, including former LSU coach Paul Mainieri and former Southern University coach Roger Cador. Close friends and family joined Coach Hoffpauir at the event.

We would like to congratulate Coach Hoffpauir on a CHAMPION career! You set an example of hard work, high expectations and small-town pride. You taught us that not only can play with the big boys, but often times we can slay the dragon.

Thank you to all of our wonderful Miss-Lou Champion Spotlight partners!
